About This Course

The pelvic complex serves as the central hub of force transfer between the upper body and lower extremities. Led by Dr. Sonja Forster, DPT, this course provides Athletic Trainers with a modern, holistic understanding of pelvic anatomy, sacroiliac joint mechanics, and pelvic floor function within athletic performance.

The curriculum explores how pelvic ring alignment, intra-abdominal pressure regulation, diaphragmatic breathing, and deep core stability influence the lumbopelvic hip complex. Participants will examine the relationship between the pelvic floor and the wider core system while developing a clearer understanding of continence, posture, movement, stability, and functional support.

Athletic Trainers will learn non-invasive assessment techniques to evaluate sacroiliac dysfunction, pelvic tilt, muscular imbalance, movement strategies, and functional instability. The course also addresses the role of the pelvic floor in high-impact activity, breathing dynamics, core stiffness, and common patterns of dysfunction.
