
Strategies To Implement Early Intervention and Ergonomics To Reduce Workplace Injuries
Abstract:
Workplace injury and illness management is a major cost factor for employers across all industries. A large proportion of significant nonfatal injuries are musculoskeletal in nature, a proactive early intervention and ergonomic-related education model with embedded healthcare specialist can be effective in reducing workplace injuries. Increased focus of preventative intervention empowers employees by understanding risk identification. Compared to the industry Occupational Health model, continuous patient population engagement enables healthcare providers improved patient access, rapport, and trust. This session will highlight case studies across two industry subsectors as categorized by the North American Industry Classification System (Food Manufacturing and Transportation Equipment Manufacturing).

Jonathan Lenze, ATC, EIS
Jonathan Lenze, ATC, EIS is an experienced Industry Manager at ATI Worksite Solutions with over a decade of service in occupational health and athletic training. He currently oversees injury prevention and health optimization programs for industrial workers in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to his current role, he spent eight years as a Certified Athletic Trainer at ATI and began his career as an Industrial Occupational Athletic Trainer at Occupational Athletics Inc. Jon also brings experience from collegiate settings, having served as an athletic trainer and camp coordinator at institutions including Coastal Carolina University, the University of Wyoming, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds a master’s degree in Health & Human Performance from the University of Montana and a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University. Jon is certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers and holds a CEIS credential through ATI Physical Therapy.
