Abstract:
Whether your goal is to be a future leader of NATA, your state or your district, this webinar will provide a financial foundation of what each statement is reporting and how they are used together to tell the organization´s story. It is essential, in many leadership roles, to understand how money is spent, ensure funds are used to further the organizational mission and maintain the perpetuity of the organization. We will cover the three basic financial statements, The Balance Sheet (called the Statement of Financial Position in the Not-for-Profit world), The Income Statement (Statement of Activities), Statement of Functional Expenses and Statement of Cash Flows. 

Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to recognize the inter-relationship between an organization's financial statements., 
  • Participants will be able to identify what type of information is included in each statement., 
  • Participants will be able to analyze the information presented in a financial statement., 
  • Participants will be able to evaluate the organization's performance.

National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA)

Kathy is currently serving in a dual role as the Director of Finance for the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the related Research and Education Foundation. As a director in these roles she maintains outside relationships for audit, tax, insurance, banking and investment services while overseeing a staff of four accountants working in accounts receivable, accounts payable and the general ledger. Kathy prepares GAAP compliant financial statements and board of director presentations, including forecasts, collaborate with other department directors, provide input on policies, implement procedures and orchestrate the annual, collaborative budget process for both organizations.

Kathy has accumulated 25 years of progressive accounting and customer service experience. She enjoy identifying challenges or areas for improvement and identifying and implementing solutions that serve our two organizations and the members we serve.
