Abstract:
Sports performance technology, specifically force plates, has progressed in its measurement of athletes’ biometric data related to load, strength, and limb force production. Current research reports the performance-based assessments of reactive strength and neuromuscular capacity, measured indirectly using force places. This session will introduce the current evidence, performance variables, and tests utilized during force plate evaluations and how data can inform rehabilitation and return-to-play decisions. Further, this session will present techniques to monitor athlete readiness and performance to determine appropriate load and recovery recommendations. This technology will enhance the functional objective evaluation of recovering athletes’ progression and return in sports.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the theoretical consideration for selecting testing metrics based on desired outcomes.
- Differentiate the appropriate testing modality and training intervention based on the rehabilitation phase and progression along with sport-specific needs/requirements.
- Develop a plan to utilize force plates as an adjunct assessment measure for lower limb injuries.
- Implement the appropriate testing options and training interventions for performance readiness and athlete monitoring.
