Ryan Monti is a physical therapist who specializes in sports physical therapy. As a board certified clinical specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, Ryan has extensive experience working with a variety of overhead athletes. His special interests and research have involved the baseball athlete at all levels of competition, with a particular emphasis in pediatric sports. Dr. Monti completed an accredited Upper Extremity Athlete Fellowship Program through OSU Sports Medicine working in professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians and their AAA affiliate the Columbus Clippers. Beyond these settings, he has lectured on several baseball-related topics and published literature on return to baseball hitting following injury.

    Baseball and softball athletes are repeatedly challenged to meet the demands of sport. As a rehabilitation specialist, one must consider all aspects required to return to the game. Due to the vast array of literature regarding overhead throwing and previous emphasis in clinical care, hitting is often times overlooked. This lecture will give insight into a subspecialty practice and neglected aspect in rehabilitation. Attendees will acquire information on clinical assessment, overview of hitting mechanics, interval progressive hitting programs, and rehabilitation considerations to return to hitting. The information gained through this webinar will advance skill acquisition for providing care for the baseball and softball athlete.
