Over the last decade, wearable technology has become an integral part of training and recovery among recreational and elite athletes. However, integration of technology into the rehabilitative process has lagged behind societal trends due to barriers such as the overwhelming variety of technologies on the market, a lack of understanding regarding the best uses of different wearable types, and challenges in effectively interpreting data obtained from wearable sensors. The purposes of this session are to provide a summary of the state of play in commercially-available wearable sensors and to highlight several evidence-based used cases for wearable technologies in rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries.
