My academic scholarship and professional service is in the area of professional ethics, values, and responsible reasoning in athletic training. I am recognized with the Professor Emerita status from Northern Illinois University (NIU) and now an adjunct lecturer in the Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) program at Florida International University (FIU) and Master's of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program at Old Dominion (ODU). Furthermore, my assigned courses include Navigating Academia (FIU) and Professional Ethics in Healthcare (ODU).

Recently, the high-profile case involving boundary crossing and sexual misconduct has had far-reaching affects. In the aftermath, we remind ourselves of the importance of maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. This webinar will examine the appropriate professional relationship, boundary crossing, and the legal, ethical, regulatory (LER) issues tied with boundary violations and sexual misconduct. The NATA Committee on Professional Ethics is responsible for adjudicating ethics complaints, thereby ensuring members are held accountable when they violate the NATA Code of Ethics and NATA Membership Standards. This committee is comprised of members with interests or backgrounds in ethics.
