Recently, the high-profile case involving boundary crossing and sexual misconduct has had far-reaching affects. In the aftermath, we remind ourselves of the importance of maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. This webinar will examine the appropriate professional relationship, boundary crossing, and the legal, ethical, regulatory (LER) issues tied with boundary violations and sexual misconduct. The NATA Committee on Professional Ethics is responsible for adjudicating ethics complaints, thereby ensuring members are held accountable when they violate the NATA Code of Ethics and NATA Membership Standards. This committee is comprised of members with interests or backgrounds in ethics.

This presentation will introduce several different ethical decision-making models to help athletic trainers better understand the processes by which they resolve ethical situations. Ethical leadership principles will also be introduced and examined as they relate to ethical decision-making practices in athletic training.

This presentation will uncover the mystery of professional ethics in the athletic training profession by providing a comprehensive overview of definitional, operational, and practical principles and theories inherent in the study of ethics. Specific emphasis will be placed on promoting the discovery and integration of professional ethics throughout one's career.

This presentation will focus on the role personal and professional values have on our ethical decision making processes within the athletic training profession. A comprehensive approach to uncovering personal and professional values that guide our professional behaviors will be the main emphasis of this presentation. Practical situations will be utilized to apply the values construct to ethical dilemmas within the profession.
